The Unbelievable Faith

Do you ever think about what atheists believe? Have you ever compared atheist beliefs with Christian beliefs?

This Sunday (21st May) I'm starting a new preaching series based on the first few chapters of Genesis, but seeking to do something a bit different than normal. When we read about the creation of the world in Genesis we see the foundations of Christian belief. Who made us? Why did he make us? What does it mean to be human? What does it mean to be good?

But what if we were to take away everything these chapters affirm? We begin to understand the atheist's view of the world. So, my plan is to compare the Christian world view with the atheist world view. Basically, I'm comparing two systems of faith.

Which one is the unbelievable faith?

Words of comfort from Psalm 116

"Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints", Psalm 116:15. That sounds strange, to hold anyone's death as precious, as if its one of your favourite moments in life!

But I reflected on the possibility that the Psalm is the cry of someone who feels abandoned by everyone (v11) and is in a life threatening position (v3). Faced with a lonely death and the thought that no one will mourn him the Psalm writer (David?) is able to take comfort that God cares about his death. If he dies, it won't be just a statistic or a minor upset, it will be an event close to God's heart.

No Service at Furzedown this Sunday!

This Sunday (26th Feb 2017) we're on our Church weekend away which means we won't be meeting at Furzedown as usual. We looked at booking a smaller venue for those who were unable to come on the weekend but they were not going to be around, so I'm afraid we won't have a service.

The Great Winslow Bake Off

This Sunday (18th Dec 2016) will be our Christmas family service. We're using the Bake Off theme as a way into the Christmas message. How do you find a link between those two things? Come along and find out. The service is open to everyone, its for children and for adults. There will be cake to eat (how could we not have cake at a Bake Off themed service?), there will be fun to enjoy, and there will be a message to think about!

We'll be at our normal place (Furze Down School, Verney Road, Winslow, MK18 3BL) at our normal time (10:30am)

A New Home for Winslow Christian Fellowship

From this Sunday (4th September) onwards, Winslow Christian Fellowship will be meeting in Furze Down School. We're grateful to God for the his provision of the Winslow Centre over the past 20 years. The centre has been a great home for the church, but the time has come move on.  Now, God had provided us with a new meeting place that fits our needs brilliantly.

This new venue also places us in a part of Winslow that is relatively new and growing. My prayer is that the people who live on the Glade, and those who will move into the houses that are yet to be built, will come to see WCF as their church, and that WCF will serve the people of the estate as all churches should serve their communities.

Apart from the venue everything else is the same: 10:30am every Sunday morning, all are welcome!
